Arc Spray Gun

Arc Spray Gun is a gun in which flame is produced by means of electricity. Where cathode and Anode wires are sparked by touching the anode and cathode hence produces a spark that creates heat. This helps in melting down the wires then compressed air is blown to provide thrust to the melted material used for coating up. The rollers are used for movement of wires terminal through, which the continued flame of material is ruined.

Twin Arc Spray Gun

It uses DC power to energize 2 conductive wires (Anode and Cathode). These energized wires are then fed through the feeder into the gun head. It is at the gun head that the wires meet and arc against each other, thus creating molten material that used for spraying. It is also known as Twin Arc Spray Gun, Electric Arc Spray Gun.

There are two types of Arc Spray Guns.

Motor-Driven

Motor-Driven type Arc Spray Gun: The rollers are rotated by an electric motor. That will provide movement to wire arcs for the molten metal deposited into the gun, so compressed air is used to split up material from the gun. It is also known as Twin Electric Wire Spray Gun.

Air-driven

Air Driven type Arc Spray Gun: in this type of arc spray gun rollers get movement from the compressed air. Compressed air is split to rollers and center of the arc so that the molten material does not stick at gunpoint. It gets out through the pressure of compressed air.

Why we use Arc spray guns?

It is used for the coating of anti-corrosive alloys on the inner and outer surface of the machines, turbines, shafts, etc.

Why do we prefer Arc Spray Gun?

  • It adds longevity to equipment that coated through it.
  • Air Driven Guns are cheaper than Motor-Driven Guns.
  • Its initial setup cost is high, but maintenance is cheaper than other guns.

NOTE: However Electric Spray Gun cheap maintenance due to no usage of fuel (LPG) and oxygen cylinder.

Zinc Coating

The zinc coating's thickness is variable, meaning to say it can be sprayed on at thickness as thin as .5 mm or as high as 4mm. Coating requiring thicker than 6mm is recommended to be layered with multiple passes. Zinc Spray Gun help to layer the coating in an entity.

The spray of zinc coating should be 3-4 hands-on so that every part of the entity could be covered to have a fine coating on an entity.

Anti-Corrosive Coating

When metallic materials are put into corrosive environments, they tend to have chemical reactions with the air or water. These effects in corrosion on the surfaces of these materials. This phenomenon helps with the Zinc Spray Gun. Anti-corrosion measures are of particular importance in environments where high humidity, mist, dust, climatic condition, and salt are factors.

Some examples of zinc coating.

  • Platinum
  • Palladium
  • Porosity
  • Titanium Dioxide
